WHAT ARE BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR BEING AN ALLY?

To be eligible for the Ally volunteer program, you must meet at least 1 of the following requirements:

– Currently working full-time

– Currently a stay at home parent or retired AND have at least 2 years of prior full-time work experience

– You are currently unemployed AND you have at least 2 years of prior full-time work experience, and you’ve been unemployed for less than 3 months

– You are part-time student AND working part-time OR you are a full-time student AND you have at least 2 years of prior full-time work experience within the last 5 years

WHAT DOES THE ALLY COMMITMENT LOOK LIKE?

– 6 Month Commitment

– Attending Family Gathering events every Wednesday night from 6pm – 8pm 

– Participate in large group games, shoutouts, and dinner

– Lead a small group alongside 1-2 other Allies (small groups consist of both Allies and Leaders)

– 100% Attendance is required, outside of unavoidable emergencies

WHAT MAKES A GREAT ALLY?

The beauty of the Ally program is that it allows you to bring your own unique skills and experiences to the table as you empower and inspire individuals looking to escape poverty. 

That being said, there are a few characteristics that all Allies must have to succeed in the volunteer program: 

1. Passionate about helping neighbors achieve a career and escape poverty

2. Demonstrated professional success – Allies must be able to serve as a professional mentor and support Leaders as they pursue a new career

3. Demonstrated ability to initiate and build meaningful relationships

4. Dedicated to 100% attendance during your 6-month commitment – creating a significant impact in someone’s life requires consistency and presence!

5. Demonstrated ability and/or desire to engage in a diverse community that crosses ethnic, social, and economic lines

WHAT IS THE SCHEDULE FOR AN ALLY?

Every Wednesday from 6pm – 8pm

The Ally Commitment is a 6-Month commitment

IS THE ALLY PROGRAM VIRTUAL OR IN-PERSON?

Accepted Allies attend Wednesday night trainings and Family Gatherings on campus.

IS CHILDCARE PROVIDED AT FAMILY GATHERINGS?

Yes, childcare will be available.

CAN I VOLUNTEER WITH MY SPOUSE/FAMILY MEMBERS?

Yes! We readily welcome spouses and family members to Ally together – all Allies must be at least 21 years old to be eligible for application
